Commercial professions
Industrial clerk (m/f/d) OR
Commercial clerk for wholesale and foreign trade, specializing in foreign trade (m/f/d)
To get a feel for our products, you start at the heart of the company: production. You will gain insights into order acceptance, ordering of raw materials and the booking of invoices. You will quickly realize that without good teamwork, no cookies would be available for the customer. Whether as a foreign trade sales person (with a focus on languages and internships abroad) or as an industrial clerk: you will quickly realize that all departments are dependent on each other. And you get the chance to take part, even after your education.
"My training as an industrial clerk allows me to get an insight into all commercial department activities, to take on tasks independently and to get an insight into the most important processes. My tasks are very diverse and allow me to get to know a lot of practical aspects. I greatly appreciate especially the good co-operation with my colleagues as well as the many experiences that I gained during my training at Dr. Schär."
-Leonora Grau, commercial trainee
Duration and course of the training
Training for commercial professions takes 3 years. The duration can be shortened to 2.5 years, provided you have the German vocational diploma. It is a dual training system in which the training takes place in the company and at a vocational school. The lessons take place once or twice a week. Internally, the process is very similar, but there are significant differences in vocational education. While the focus of an industrial clerk is on the mediation of different areas of an industrial company, such as production planning, the various manufacturing processes, the structure and the calculation of warehousing, the profession of a foreign trade clerk focuses on international trade, i.e. import and export, logistics and the use of foreign languages.
Pre-requisite: German vocational diploma
Specialist in food technology (m/f/d)
Step by step you will get to know every single area of production - and that is varied! You start at the incoming goods department, where you accept and check raw materials. Then it's off to the so-called pre-mixer department, There are no cocktails here, but the mix has to be perfect, because it is necessary to prepare doughs according to the recipe. And your technical understanding will also be enhanced as you learn to operate our state-of-the-art equipment: first in the field of ovens, then in the packaging area. After completing your training, you will know pretty well everything about food technology.
"As a trainee food technology specialist at Dr. Schär, I get to know all of the production steps. It starts with the procurement of packaging materials and raw materials and their quality control and goes all the way to palletizing and shipping our products. The operation and set-up of our baking and packaging systems is also part of my job. Incidentally, I am also involved in projects to improve our production processes. This makes my education very exciting and varied."
- Timo Kornemann, Food Technology Specialist
Duration and course of the training
Training as a specialist in food technology takes 3 years. However, the duration can be shortened to 2.5 years, provided you have the German vocational diploma. It is a dual training system in which the training takes place in the company and at a vocational school. The lessons take place block by block. Altogether you will spend 13 weeks per year at the vocational school. During this time, you will get to know all the different areas within production (laboratory, production planning, warehouse logistics, etc.)
Prerequisite: secondary school leaving certificate level I
Electronics Technician for Industrial Technology (m/f/d)
In this exciting activity, you make sure that the entire production area is constantly electrified - but of course only by means of your technical understanding. Step by step, you will be introduced to the installation, maintenance and repair of state-of-the-art production facilities, until you can independently take over processes. In addition, we also give you smaller projects, so you can quickly become independent. We prepare you to tackle challenges on your own: as soon as a fault occurs, you are in demand and immediately start looking for the cause.
As a trainee at Dr. Schär, you will gradually be introduced to the installation, maintenance and repair of state-of-the-art production facilities, until you can independently take over processes. In addition, you will receive smaller projects.

As an electronics technician for industrial engineering, I deal not only with electrical engineering, but also get a variety of insights into various fields of activity, such as metalworking and welding work, to name but two. I especially appreciate that you can proactively get involved in the company through your own initiative and the mastering of problems. This gives me the positive feeling of being an important part of the company."

In addition, you organize the flow of goods and store our materials professionally. The implementation of inventory controls as well as the professional handling of conveying equipment, scale systems, tools and the workplace-related software system complete your training.
"When I started my training as a warehouse logistics specialist with Dr. Schär Medical Nutrition in Rosbach, I did not know exactly what to expect and therefore had great respect for my new role. But with ever increasing knowledge, the initial respect quickly turned to fun at work. Among other things, my activities include picking up incoming orders, picking up the goods and finishing the pallets for the containers, which we then ship all over the world. Now I am very happy that I got the opportunity to complete my vocational training at Dr. Schär Medical Nutrition."
